NOTES FROM READERS:
"I was a child in the 1930s and remember going to a place my Father
called The Poor Farm outside of Cody, [Park County] Wyoming. I have not
researched it since."

The following is an excerpt from a U.S. Government REPORT
summarizing various state poor laws in 1904. .

|
Note: This report, when
referring to Wyoming, uses the term "workhouse"
and specifically mentions a county poorhouse in Laramie County
as well as a "state poor asylum" in Tremont County

Correction:
"I believe that there is a misprint in the
government report regarding Wyoming. There is no Tremont
County in Wyoming. However, there is a Fremont County
and I believe that is the one they meant to refer. Fremont
County is in the middle of Wyoming. Laramie County is in
the southeastern corner. The state capitol is located in
Cheyenne, Laramie County, Wyoming. Most of us in Wyoming would
know this but I just thought that folks living outside of
Wyoming may need to know this." Sarah Lorentz
