Archived PHS Newsletters

NOTICE: September 2003

In May we announced that our Newsletters would subsequently be available only to paid subscribers.

Because of the huge volume of requests for free access to old newsletters by archives, libraries, and genealogical and historical societies (which are all experiencing budget cuts and cannot afford to subscribe to various online newsletters) we have decided to alter this policy.  From now on it will be only the most current issue of the newsletter that will be available only to subscribers.  We hope those of you who have already subscribed will understand the need to do this.  Most of you expressed the feeling that your subscription was a way of supporting this poorhouse clearinghouse effort ... and not something that was done only out of the necessity to do so in order to read the older issues.  It is out of that same generous spirit of support for the efforts of the greater genealogical and historical community that we are making this change.

From now on each NEW newsletter will be available only to subscribers.  Two months later, when another newsletter is published, that earlier one will be added to those available online to the non-subscribing public. All earlier newsletters are now available to everyone by clicking on the links below.

If you have your password already, just put it in the box below and you will be taken to a page
where you can click on the link to the NEWEST newsletter.
If you have not subscribed, you may
scroll down to access any of the earlier issues.

Subscribers will be those who have made a donation to the maintenance of The POORHOUSE STORY website by subscribing to access them.

All of the rest of The POORHOUSE STORY will remain free to everyone. Offering the newsletters for paid subscription is the only way we can afford to keep our website on the internet.

[Note: If you see only a gray box with the letter "J" in it -- that means you probably have Java Scripts disabled. If you know how to enable them and are comfortable doing that, then try it.  Then click REFRESH or RENEW on your browser to view this page again.  If you still have a problem,  please e-mail me ( at phnewsletter@austin.rr.com ) with the phrase JAVA PROBLEMS in the subject line.  Also ... if you have Web TV ... this won't work. (Neither will a lot of things!)  If you use Web TV, please e-mail me (at phnewsletter@austin.rr.com ) with the phrase WEB TV in the subject line. PHL ]
