PERSONAL NOTES FROM READERS:

"I remember the Wise County poor farm  from my childhood. I had a cousin who, with her husband, worked there and took care of the people. They lived at the poor farm and, I suppose, were the supervisors.  I remember that when we visited them there were only about 3 people that they were caring for and they (the people) were elderly. One of the ladies was about my fathers age, maybe a little older, and he knew her from years back. The Wise County reunion (I think) is now held at the place where the Poor Farm used to be."
