TEXAS POORHOUSE HISTORY by county

LOCAL NOTES:

"To provide living quarters for paupers in the county, officials established a [Williamson]  county poor farm, located about half a mile out present Hutto Road, southeast of Georgetown.  The grimness of the place was indelibly marked on the memories of hundreds of people who had occasion to visit the farm, and on the somewhat fewer who called to share a little of their own good with those trapped by an unkind fate.131"

Note 131 refers to a newspaper article: Williamson County Sun, Jan. 13, 1973, by Hamilton Wright,
but there was an error in the citation. The article was actually published on Jan 13, 1972 and it was an
editorial.  We will try to obtain permission from the paper to copy the article.  PHL
