NOTES FROM READERS:
"My family bought a tract of land on the edge of town in Comanche, [Comanche
County] Texas about 1969. It had for
many years been unnoticed and was overgrown. My father later told me it had been
the poor farm in the early days. He cleaned it up and built a nice home and a
shop for his business. After some years, dad sold a portion of it to the school
board. He has by now sold it all and there are several offices and businesses
there. Northeast of it all, though, there is still a portion that has a
large pecan orchard and some pastureland. South and adjoining the original tract
is probably the oldest and largest cemetery in Comanche."
