Note: For every county in Ohio it would be a good idea to check

| We have found so many infirmary/poorhouse records for Ohio that
we have created a special page for the references -- which will be found in a table
alphabetized by county. |
(WPA) INVENTORIES OF THE COUNTY ARCHIVES OF OHIO
--
EXCERPTS RELATED TO POORHOUSE (INFIRMARY) HOLDINGS
During the 1930's and 1940's
the Work Projects Administration (WPA) began the process of inventorying
County Archives of Ohio. Those which inventoried infirmary records
have been transcribed and links are here posted on a table. |

| CEMETERIES:
"The hospital you have listed for Lucas County, Toledo
Ohio, actually did have a cemetery.
They tore down the old hospital and were excavating for the new
Medical College now located there when they started finding
graves. All were unmarked and as far as I know, there is no way
of telling who they were. The graves were moved to Forest
Cemetery in Toledo. I am among a few who would like to know how
we can find the records of who was buried there. It would seem
to me that there is a record, somewhere.
There
is a report at the Toledo Public Library's Genealogy Dept. It
reports on the finding of the graves and what type of graves
they were (adults or children) and where they moved them. None
of the graves were even marked! And then they were moved and are
still unmarked! How can a family even know if they had ancestors
there? I still would like to know where in Lucas County I would
find who was buried where and moved to Forest."
