| Below is a list (which may be incomplete) of various records which have previously been microfilmed. The Ohio Historical Society has negative master copies (and could have copies made for purchase) for all of these. However, not all of them are available (as positive film) for viewing in their reading room; and it should be noted that many local genealogy facilities may have copies of specific films available for viewing. to be of most interest to genealogists have been described below.
COUNTY HOME REGISTERS (Infirmary, Register, List of Inmates, Pauper Register; ORC 5155.07) Arranged by date of admission. Shows name, age, case number, and date of birth of patient; date admitted; prior address; condition on admission; and date of discharge or death Because records terminology can be quite confusing, the researcher may need to ask detailed questions when requesting specific records. We have made an attempt below to indicate those films which we think are these types of registers. But it is best to inquire. Remember to use BOTH film numbers & descriptions when requesting films. [Note the term which seems most ambiguous is "Infirmary Record"; so please ask about that if you are thinking of ordering a film with that title.] At the link above, they have given brief descriptions of all the categories of poorhouse-related records. |
