We compiled the following list of records of poorhouses and poor relief by searching the finding aid titled  "Guide to Research Materials in the North Carolina State Archives: County Records"  ["This guide is a listing of more than 9,000 bound volumes and 21,000 boxes, as well as over 24,000 reels of microfilm of county government records and documents available to researchers in the State Archives. North Carolina State Archives.
