NOTES:
"In Stephenson County, Illinois there was a
poorhouse, or as it was called there, the Poor Farm, on the south of town. It
apparently was a working farm, for the people that lived there grew food for the
institution. The building is still there, a beautiful very old stone building,
which has since been made into a museum. There is also a row of plain white
gravestones on the Highway 26, nearby, which I understand is where the inmates
were buried."
