| Note: We find nothing to indicate the presence of a poorhouse
in the 1860 Census. This leads us to conclude that the poorhouse
may have been built (or designated) sometime between 1860 and
1870. We use the word "designated" here, because there
is a possibility that the county did not build a special
poorhouse building. This could be an example of a household in
their own home being given a contract to board paupers.
If anyone has further information about this, we would
appreciate hearing from you. PHL |
