"This
was transcribed by Tom Whiteside, who was working on
this when he died. I was in the archives of the Urbana
Library one day and I mentioned about your site and how
you wanted records to do with Poor Houses. The Librarian
said Tom had been working on this for Urbana and
Champaign, Ill. She got a copy for me and this is
what he had completed. He got most of his
information from books and from undertakers'
records. Tom did a lot of research, and he loved
doing it! .He would be happy that someone could benefit
from it. I understand that The Poor House is now
Champaign County Nursing Home and that behind the home
was the burial grounds. They have a plaque there telling
what it used to be."
